In accordance with the State Educational Standard – 96 and in accordance with the decision of the Academic Council of KazSMU, the order of the Rector No. 99 of May 23, 1997, the Department of Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care was organized. From the moment the department was founded until 2018, the head of the department was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Turlanov Kuanysh Mezamgalievich. Since 2018, the position head of the Department of Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care has been occupied by Candidate of Medical Sciences, Professor Akhmetova Gulsim Dzhumagalievna.

The following outstanding scientists worked at the department: Turlanov K. M. – specialist in the field of pulmonology, cardiology, geriatrics, emergency medicine. Under his leadership, 16 candidates of medical sciences and 6 doctors of medical sciences were defended. Author of more than 450 scientific publications. Marked with badges: “Kazakhstan Densaulyk saktau isinin uzdegine”, “Honored Worker of Education”, “For merits in the development of science of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, thanks from the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2001, 2005), the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Professor Semenova R.I. – Doctor of Medical Sciences, major Scientist, Leading Pulmonologist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Founder of Pulmonology in Kazakhstan, Member of the Association of the European Respiratory Society, Member of the Society of Pulmonologists of Central Asia. The main scientific research was devoted to the most important problems of monitoring, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation of patients with bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, and pneumonia. Author of more than 1200 scientific publications and monographs. Under the leadership of Professor R.I. Semenova, 5 doctoral and more than 10 candidate dissertations were defended. Semyonova R.I. awarded the medal “Veteran of Labor”, “Excellence in Health Care”, “Honored Worker of Higher Education”, had numerous commendations and certificates of honor from the Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The main direction of the department’s scientific and clinical work is the development of ways to improve the provision of emergency medical care in the event of critical and emergency conditions.

Together with the staff of practical healthcare, practical training of students in bachelor’s degree, internship and residency is carried out on the basis of the AMCE.
