The Department of Psychiatry and Narcology of the Kazakh national medical university named after S. D. Asfendiyarov is located on the clinical base of the “Republican Scientific and Practical Center of Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Narcology”. Total number of beds – 240. Number of rooms dedicated for the department itself– 11.
There is a contract with clinical base which is annually updated. Annually, a comprehensive plan of work is being formed in coordination with treatment-and-prophylactic management of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center of psychiatry, psychotherapy and narcology. At present there are 20 regular employees at the department. Among them, there are 8 doctors of medical sciences, 7 professors, 3 candidates and associate professors, and 9 assistants. 15 people have the highest medical qualification category, 2 people with the first category and 3 people were awarded the certificate of the expert.
The department is the educational and methodical center for professional development of psychiatrists and experts in narcology.
Annually it holds free receptions devoted to the Victory Day (consultations of veterans and disabled people of the Second World War), the Open Day to Children’s Day both the medical worker and Day of mental health (on October 10).
