The department realizes GOSO-2006. The department annually takes upto 1000 students from 3 courses of the general medicine and stomatology faculties. The education medium is Kazakh, Russian and English. All department syllabuses, educational and methodical complexes of discipline, educational and methodical developments on all subjects are constructed in 3 languages. The department has developed about 700 tests of different levels of complexity. All lectures are given in multimedia option. On occupations videos are used. The department has bank of macromedicines, models and tools for high-quality mastering practical skills. the OSCE methods, problem-oriented training (PBL), work in small groups are introduced at the department. For improvement of quality of teaching there is a school of mentoring. Teachers of department constantly increase the scientific and pedagogical levels. 60% of staff of the department have passed the training seminars on innovative technologies, concerning testology according to educational medical programs, on computer, communicative skills and fundamentals of psychology. All staff of the department has completed courses on evidence based  medicine.

In 2006 there have been published a textbook “General Surgery” under K.D. Durmanov’s edition on Kazakh language.

In 2014 textbook “Surgery Propaedeutics” author M.N. Kushekbayev had been published.

In 2015 M.U. Mukanov edited and translated V.K. Gostishchev’s surgery in Kazakh/

In 2017 the textbook “Acute Appendicitis (Kaz)”, “Emergency medical aid”, educational and methodical materials were been published in state language: 1. Nurse care steps.2. General surgery lecture course/ kaz/3. Clinics and diagnostics of Diabetic foot syndrome. 4. Basic aspects of transfusion of blood, plasma, blood-drugs.
