The Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases was founded on September 1, 1952. Until then, the course of childhood infections was conducted at the Department of Pediatrics. The chair was headed by Professor E.N. Bartoshevich from 1952 to 1954 years.
Since September 1954, for 33 years, the head of the Department of Children’s Infectious Diseases was an outstanding children’s infectious disease specialist and pediatrician, TN. Nikonov. Under the leadership of TN. Nikonov successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis 50 people. Their research at the department was devoted to the most pressing issues of infectious pathology of children (diphtheria, whooping cough, scarlet fever, typhoid fever, viral hepatitis), rheumatic problems, non-infectious diseases of ENT and cardiovascular system. T.N. Nikonova was a scientific adviser to four doctoral students. Out of her pen came more than 225 scientific publications, five monographs, one of which was awarded the Al-Farabi Prize. She created in the Republic of Kazakhstan school of pediatric infectionists
Together with Professor TN Nikonova began their scientific and pedagogical activities associate professors: MD Ismagulova, F. Kh. Musabaeva, assistants GI Chervoniy, MAAndreeva. All of them were “Teachers with a capital letter”. The next generation of employees were: E. Ogay, associate professors: TPGrigoryeva, S.S. Kontsevaya, RGKasymbekova, T.Sultanova, NAAsspetova, assistants: TRKazmagambetova, OFOvchinnikova, NF Shelekhova, AAIzmailova.
The relay was accepted by the students of TN Nikonova, in 1987 the department was headed by Professor Elena Ogay, the first graduate student of the department, who made a great contribution to the training of medical and scientific personnel. During the period from 1987 to 1997, she published 160 published works, 2 monographs, 2 doctoral dissertations and 15 candidate’s theses were defended under her supervision.
Since 1997, the department was headed by a student of Professor EA Ogay – professor, MD. Galiya Gabdullaevna Kuttykuzhanova.
From 1997 to 2014, during the time of the department chairing G.G. Kuttykuzhanova, the department continued the research of bacterial and viral diseases: viral hepatitis, intestinal infections, acute respiratory diseases. At the present stage, the following infections have been studied: iersiniosis, listeriosis, HIV infection, meningitis, pneumococcal and hemophilic etiology. Under the direction of G.G. Kuttykuzhanova successfully defended her Ph.D. theses 7 people, 2 doctoral. For her fruitful work she was awarded with the badge “Honored worker of public health services”, medals “Altyn dreiger”, “Yekbek ardageri”, the order “AVE VITAE”. She first issued a textbook on childhood infectious diseases for the training of students, doctors.
Currently, the chair is headed by MD. Katarbaev Adil Kairbekovich.
Today at the department fruitfully and fully working veterans of the department: Professor, MD. GG Kuttykuzhanova, Professor, Doctor of Medicine AS Tynybekov, as well as assistant ZT Agebaeva. Currently, the department has 7 associate professors: GK Ksetayeva, MV Golovenko, LT Eraliev, KA Umeshev, AT Dzhumabekov, G.Zh.Onalbayev, A.Zh.Tanirbergenova and the assistant E.S. Litosh.
At the present stage, the pathogenetic links of the infectious process, the use of modern methods of immunological investigation, etiological decoding, carrying out of antibacterial and antiviral etiology are studied in depth at the department. The department pays much attention to practical medicine, conducting seminars with employees of all parts of the pediatric and infectious services, traveling to remote areas of Kazakhstan. In the children’s city clinical infectious diseases hospital, the department successfully applies new methods of examination and treatment of patients, developed by the staff of the department. Thanks to the modern work of the department and the basic hospital, the latter became a nominee in the contest “The best hospital of the year”. The staff of the department always differed in solidarity, mutual assistance, high efficiency, which enabled him to repeatedly take the first places not only on the scale of the faculty, but also at the university.
