| Upon completion of undergraduate studies in the educational program “General Medicine,” graduates are given the right to enter an internship in the direction of clinical training: “General Medical Practice.”
Internship is a form of training students in clinical specialties within the framework of basic higher medical education for admission to clinical practice (“Law on Education”, 2007, paragraph 28). Internship is a part of training at a medical university, which is included in the program of basic higher medical education and gives the right to practice medicine. Without completing an internship, graduates of medical universities cannot be admitted to clinical practice. Internship training is conducted in specialized and related clinical disciplines within the framework of general practitioner training (taking into account the specifics of clinical areas – surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general medical practice, pediatrics).
Classes are held at the bases of medical organizations in Almaty at the outpatient and inpatient levels, as well as in major leading scientific centers and Research institutes. Internship training provides on-site training in the regions. The training is conducted in Kazakh, Russian, and English. The duration of the internship is currently 2 years.
