International cooperation

The Department of Internal Medicine continues its cooperation with foreign universities and professors.

As part of international cooperation on the exchange of scientific and pedagogical experience, professors from Israel, Russia, Ukraine, and Turkey were previously invited:

  • In the 2012-2014 academic years, Professor Mikhail Plikh from Israel, an interventional cardiac surgeon and cardiologist, worked at the department.
  • In 2014-2017, according to the visiting professor program, Professors Yesayan A.M. and Kayukov I.G. came from St. Petersburg with a series of lectures and seminars on topical issues of nephrology at the clinic of internal diseases.
  • In the 2015-2016 academic year, the Department of Internal Diseases and the “Department of Internal Diseases No. 1” invited a professor Baruch from the Technion University Medical School (Israel), who is the director of the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Rambam Clinic in Haifa city. During the visit of Prof. Baruch, 2 large conferences were organized and held in Almaty and Astana with the participation of therapists, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, transplant surgeons. Baruch also visited the clinical base of the department – CCH No. 1, advised patients on conducting clinical examinations.
  • In 2023, according to the visiting professor program, our honorary professor Arutyunov A.G. visited, who conducted a school on CHF for residents and doctors of our clinical bases, advised patients and doctors on diagnosis and treatment.
  • In 2022, 2023 and 2024 the Department of Internal Medicine accepted teachers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan under the academic mobility program.
  • In 2024, according to the visiting professor program, professor Tatsuo Shimosawa(International University of Health and Wealfare) visited our department, who gave lectures on modern methods of diagnosis and treatment in therapy, participated as a speaker at the III International Conference “Key Issues in Internal Medicine”, organized by the Department of Internal Medicine, and also conducted a master class on speckle tracking echocardiography. During the visit, between KazNMU and the International University of Health and Social Welfare was signed Memorandum of cooperation.
  • Students from France, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India studied at our base.

The head of the Department of Internal Medicine, Akhmetzhan Begalievich Sugraliev, is a member of the Working Group of the European Society of Cardiology.

In the 2015-2016 academic year, the Department of Internal Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 invited Professor Y.Baruch (Israel), a professor at the Medical School of the University of Technology, who is the Director of the Institute of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Rambam Clinic in Haifa. Within the framework of the visit, prof. Baruch organized and conducted 2 large conferences in Almaty and Astana with the participation of therapists, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, transplant surgeons. Also prof. Baruch visited the clinical base of the department – GKB number 1, advised patients with the conduct of clinical analysis.

In November 2016 within the framework of the Visiting-Professor program KazNMU was visited Atsumasa Komori M.D., PhD (Clinical Research Center, NHO Nagasaki Medical Center, Nagasaki University Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Japan). Since 2012 A.Komori is a regular partner of our university and “Honorary Professor of KazNMU”.

Komori is a specialist in the field of diagnosis and treatment of patients with chronic autoimmune diseases of the liver, chronic viral hepatitis, liver tumors, and a member of the working group on developing guidelines for liver diseases in Japan.
Department “Internal Diseases №1 with the course of related disciplines” On November 24, 2016, on the basis of the City Clinical Hospital №1 was organized a meeting on the theme “Autoimmune liver diseases – modern patient management”.

The event was actively participated by the doctors of the City Clinical Hospital N1, gastroenterologists, therapists, general practitioners of city polyclinics, faculty departments and students. After the main part of the meeting was held an interactive platform with a discussion, where was discussed  issues of diagnostics and treatment of autoimmune liver diseases, management of patients, was made a plan of scientific work.

In November of  2017- 2018 academic year  professor Atsumasa Komori again visited KazNMU within the framework of the ongoing cooperation. The department of “Internal Diseases №1 with the course of hepatology” at the clinical base together with the visiting professor conducted a round table on the topic “Cholestatic diseases of the liver-modern diagnostics and treatment” with participation of the teaching staff, students and doctors of City Clinical Hospital N1.

Also was held  a practical master class with clinical analysis of the patients of the Gastroenterology unit of City Clinical Hospital N1.

In November 2017-2018 academic year  were held seminaries on the block of gastroenterology for students of the 4th year of the International Medical Faculty with Professor Dilip Mahapatra (Dublin, Ireland) with the analysis of problem-oriented lectures.

Also, at the clinical base of the department by Professor Dilip Mahapatra conducted a lecture on the topic “Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease” taking into account the specifics of the clinic and the work of the pulmonary center in Almaty, where faculty staff conduct medical and consultative activities.
