Urology department was firstly opened in Kazakhstan based on AGMI in 1940. Its first leader was Zikeyev V.V. From 1955-1969 the leader of the department was proffessor Z.V.Fanstein. From 1969-1970 the leader of AGMI Urology department was Jarbusunov B.U. From 1971-1975 the department was lead by proffessor E.P.Eganov. From 1976-96 AGMI Urology department was lead by proffessor Jarbusunov B.U. Under direct leadership of Jarbusunov B.U. National Research Institute of Urology was established in December 14, 1990, he was its first Director. Jarbusunov B.U prepared 15 candidates and 8 doctors of science. For his contribution in development of Kazakhstan Urology, Jarbusunov B.U was awarded with Parasat award and title of RoK honoured worker science. From his death, from 1997 till 2002, the department was lead by M.K.Alchinbayev.From 2003 to 2007, the department was lead by assistan proffessor S.G.Zazulevskii.  From 2008 to 2013 Urology department with nefrology course was lead by  proffessor A.T.Toksanbayev. From 2013 up to now, the department is lead by proffessor  Alchinbayev, he holds awards ”  Best RoK Healthimprovment worker”, title “Honoured worker of the RoK” (1998). awarded with Kurmet order (2003), from 2005 he is a prize winner of RoK State award in science, technique and education for his work “Model of reforming and improving medical assistance system based on development and introduction of new high efficient technologies in market conditions. For 70 – anniversary of establishment of Asfendiarov KazNMU, as one of the lead surgeons of the republic, he was awarded with memorable “Gold scalpel”.Urology department with nefrology group under his leadership for all history of KazNMU on all indexes won the first place (2002) Elected a full member (academician) of the Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences of the Russian Federation (2007), was awarded the highest decoration of the Academy – “Gold Medal. A. Chizhevsky. ” He was awarded with a breastplate of the Ministry of Defense and the Republic of Kazakhstan “For Merits in the Development of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan” (2009), a badge of quality “Impeccable” (Almaty, 2009). Laureate of the honorary award “Intellect of the Nation” (2010). In 2011, he was awarded the Order of Parasat and Altyn Adam – Person of the Year in the nomination “The Best Scientist of the Year, 2013 – Corresponding Members of NAS RK, 2013 year in the nomination “Doctor of the Year”.       Since September, 2016 the department, has been renamed into a course of urology
