The Department of history of Kazakhstan and social and humanitarian disciplines has a long history and is one of the first departments of the Kazakh State Medical Institute. The Department of social Sciences (dialectical materialism and political economy) was founded in 1931. By S.G Asfendiyarova which was its first head. For many years of existence of the medical University, the Department has worked with outstanding scientists.
From 1931 to 1952, the Department was headed By M. D. Isaev, I. A. Polukhin, and V. S. Naumets.
Since 1958, the Department has been divided into four independent departments: “Scientific communism”, “history of the CPSU”, “Political economy”, “Philosophy”. Heads of departments in different years were: Bolgov I. G.; Talanov J. T., Isaev M. D., Koldashov A. M. Dautov T. M., Burabaev M. S.
In 1984, four departments were transformed into two: theory of socialism and political economy and philosophy. In the period from 1984-1990 the departments were headed By: M. A. Biekenov, A.D. Yandarov. the Department was attended by participants of the great Patriotic war: associate professors Mukhamedzhanov E. Kh., Aldanazarov A. S., Rybakov F. P., Rakhimov A. S., Uteshov S. K., Rev. Umarov, S. D.
In 1990, the above departments were transformed and new disciplines were introduced: political science, sociology, fundamentals of law, philosophy. Heads of departments were: Ph. D., Prof. Biekenov M. A. At the Department for many years worked senior lecturer. G. T. Caldina, G. V. Kasalica, S. K. Uteshev. Professor A. A. Aimbetov associate professors S. K. Joldoshaliev, E. S. Yugay.
In 1995, the departments of philosophy, political science, history of Kazakhstan and theory of Economics were merged into one Department “Social disciplines”, which is named after D. F. N. BekbosynovaZh. b., Ph. D., Ismagulova K. B., D. F. N. KabaevaZh. a., Ph. D. Prof. AltaevZh. A.
Since September 2003, the Department of social Sciences was divided into 2 departments: philosophy, political science, sociology, law, and the Department of history of Kazakhstan, cultural studies and economic theory.
The departments were headed by PhD, associate Professor M. S. Kurmanova, associate Professor D. N. Baimagambetova, associate Professor Z. U. Bisembayeva.
From 2012 to 2013, the Department was divided into two modules: head.associate Professor Z. U. Bisembayeva, head of the Department of philosophy and sociology. module of history of Kazakhstan and political science associate Professor G. T. Rsaldina
Since 2013, the modules have been combined into one Department “History of Kazakhstan and social and humanitarian disciplines”. The Department still exists today with this name. Head of the Department until 2018, Ph. D., associate Professor Bisembayeva Z. U.
Since 1990, the Department teaches such disciplines as:” Modern history of Kazakhstan”,” Sociology”, “political Science”, “cultural Studies”, ” Philosophy ” in Kazakh, Russian and English.
Currently, the Department of history of Kazakhstan and social and humanitarian disciplines employs: associate professors: Ph. D. Bisembayeva Z. U., lecturers: S. A. Zholdybayeva, S. M. Ilgidayeva, N. A. Abdrazakova, K. N. Zhusupova, S. D. Tursunbayeva and G. A. Malik.
With the transition to a new system of credit technology education, the Department develops new and modernizes the courses taught, while retaining the best of the accumulated experience. Teaching staff of the Department actively participate in scientific and pedagogical, educational, and social work. They are engaged in research on the methodology of cognition, national culture, the history of socio-political movements, and global problems of our time. In the educational process, teachers widely use innovative teaching methods.
Teachers of the Department carry out a lot of educational work at the faculties, as well as actively participate in various events. For many years, the Department has a scientific student circle “Ibn Sina”, whose members have repeatedly won prizes at international scientific competitions.
Since 2018, the Department regularly holds “Meetings with interesting people”, where students meet in an informal setting with leading speakers, scientists, actors, Directors, businessmen, writers of our country.
