History of department: The Department of Rheumatology was organized in august 2019.

Currently, the department staff under the leadership of d.m.s.. professor B. Issaeva conduct scientific work on the study of systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, spondylitis (ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis).

Under the guidance of professor Issaeva B.G. a scientific project of MES № AP05134328 “Development of a national register, determination of the characteristic profile of a patient with systemic lupus erythematosus and the introduction of personalized therapy”, 2018 – 2020 is being carried out.

Edited by professor Issaeva B.G. in the autumn of 2019 methodological recommendations “Systemic lupus erythematosus: prevalence in Kazakhstan, issues of register, diagnosis, activity indices, organ damage and basic principles of therapy” were issued. Methodical recommendations / B.G. Issaeva, M.M. Saparbayeva, M.P. Bizhanova. – Almaty, 2019, 48p.

An act was introduced “A way of introducing an electronic version of the register for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus”, according to which an examination of patients with SLE is carried out at the Center of Internal Diseases of KazNMU and CRC.

The teaching staff of the department carry out medical work on the basis of the Center of internal diseases of NCJSC “KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarova ”, “ City Rheumatology Center ”: the introduction of patients in the departments, outpatient visits, consultative visits in the consultative and outpatient department, conduct inpatient visits, regularly participate in consultations of complex patients, participate in the commission on the analysis of fatal cases.

Employees of the department are developers of clinical protocols of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases; are members of the commissions for the appointment of genetic engineering biological therapy for patients with rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.

Professor Issaeva B.G. chairman of the “Independent Society of Rheumatologists”, member of the Joint Commission for the quality of medical services of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the City Emergency Rheumatology Center, Member of the Supervisory Council of the City Maternity Hospital №1, 4, y Hospital Polyclinic № 13.

The department is actively working on introducing high-tech methods for the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases into real clinical practice.

The department conducts advanced training for doctors of rheumatologists – “Local injection therapy of rheumatic diseases.”

The Department of Rheumatology is the initiator and organizer of the School for Rheumatologists, Therapists, GPs. The winter school of rheumatologists is held as part of the “University Days”. The staff of the department constantly participate in scientific and practical conferences as speakers and listeners. Young employees of the department participate in competitions of young scientists.

Educational work by the department staff is carried out in the directions according to the development strategy of KazNMU: performance monitoring, moral and spiritual, patriotic and ideological, professional and legal education, promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
